Godalming Choral Society, a singing group based in Surrey, pride themselves on being a friendly inclusive local choir who embrace singers of all abilities. The community choir are known for hosting joyful concerts in Godalming and the surrounding areas.
The choir needed a tiered seating bank for a performance of Verdi’s Requiem, scheduled to take place at Grange Park Opera in Surrey. The 200 strong choir required seating that was sophisticated and subtle to allow good visibility for the audience and allow the singers to have a clear view of the conductor in the orchestra pit. The seating and tiered structure needed to be installed on the venue stage.
Godalming Choral Society reached out to Steeldeck for assistance in achieving a cost-effective installation. Members of the group visited our London office and yard, to personally assess and try out the seating options, which included two potential heights of tiered rises (7inch or 1ft) to determine the best solution for them. The primary concern was to ensure that the sightlines would be suitable for the choir, so we used drawings to provide guidance on the best structural design. Collaborating closely with the choir, we ensured that the seating layout and design aligned with both their practical and budget requirements.
The choir were thrilled with the result!
