Broadcast-Ready Tiered Seating for Live ITV Production
When Martin Lewis Money Show Live – Summer Special was set to broadcast on ITV from inside Aerospace Bristol, Production Designer Sarah Milton approached us to bring her vision to life: a bespoke tiered seating audience layout designed to suit the striking backdrop of Concorde 216 – the last Concorde ever built and flown.
Filming in such a unique and constrained environment came with clear challenges. The production team needed a long temporary tiered seating bank, that ensured the seated audience would remain visible on camera above a standing audience positioned directly in front. We designed a straight seating structure with a raised front row to accommodate this, carefully considering the dimensions of the hangar and the required broadcast camera sightlines.
To enable full audience participation, stepped access was integrated at several points along the tiered bank, allowing presenters to easily move between audience members and take questions live on air. Throughout the design and planning stages, we worked closely with the wider production team to optimise seating capacity without obstructing the all-important views of both the stage and the aircraft.
Installation took place on a tight turnaround – completed on an evening when the museum closed to the public and removed after the live broadcast wrapped on two days later. Our modular seating design allowed us to adapt quickly to the on-site conditions, while our team’s extensive experience meant we were able to problem-solve in real time and deliver a safe, functional, and visually effective structure to support a seamless live show.
