Supporting Young Artists at Brockfest

Temporary staging for community festival

On Sunday 14 September, Brockwell Park came alive with the sound of Brockfest, a grassroots music festival put together by 60 people from the local community with 1,000 attendees. At the heart of the line-up were 112 performers from Junior Open Mic (JOM), a group dedicated to giving young upcoming artists the opportunity to share their music with live audiences.

JOM has grown into a vibrant community of young artists, volunteers, and music lovers and continues to hold monthly gigs at local venues including TAM in Elephant & Castle and Brixton JAMM. Brockfest was a one off event that celebrated the musical journeys of performers at JOM, past and present.

The event featured an Emmy award-winning sound engineer, professional sound equipment with Glastonbury credentials, and a stage that gave every performer the chance to shine. Steeldeck supported the project by supplying temporary staging; a 3’ high stage with tread access and a drum riser, helping to create a professional performance platform for the musicians.

For Steeldeck, the event was an opportunity to celebrate what we love most: outdoor performances, community spirit, and supporting the next generation of artists.

“We are extremely grateful for the stage. Huge thanks to Steeldeck for supporting Brockfest.”
