Bespoke immersive festival staging at Crystal Palace Park
Steeldeck Rentals was appointed by Polygon Productions and Jim Lambert to deliver a suite of bespoke staging solutions for Polygon Live Festival; a three-day immersive music festival held within a striking Kayam tent at the historic Italian Terraces in Crystal Palace Park. Billed as ‘the largest outdoor 360º spatial audio event ever to hit the UK’, combining state-of-the-art sound design with innovative performance spaces.
Our Approach
From the outset, our team worked in closely with Jim Lambert in the lead-up to the event, attending site visits and collaborating on detailed logistics to ensure smooth installation in a tight build schedule.
Inside the fully covered dome, nearly 100 speakers delivered a breathtaking spatial audio experience, while synchronised LED lighting pulsed in harmony with the music. The environment was immersive, high-impact, and technically ambitious, and our staging had to meet that same standard.
We supplied a full range of staging solutions to support every aspect of the production: a central 80′ x 32′ main stage with ramp access for artists and crew, a satellite ‘Brain Stage’ to enhance crowd interaction, a raised 40′ x 56′ VIP platform, and a split level tiered 24′ x 24′ front-of-house structure for sound and lighting control. Additional dry hire kit and rolling risers were also provided for flexibility across the performance schedule.
Responsive Onsite Delivery
The build took place days prior to the festival. We remained on hand throughout to accommodate evolving requirements. When an unexpected request for a wheelchair access ramp came through, we turned it around within hours; sourcing, delivering and installing the ramp by the following morning.
The Result
Polygon Live was a powerful example of what’s possible when spatial design, technology and infrastructure come together with imagination. Our staging solutions helped shape an environment that didn’t just support the production, they became part of the immersive experience itself.
“Thank you so much for all your support on this project, and in particular the way your team were able to help with the last-minute request for the wheelchair ramp. This was hugely appreciated and a testament to the quality of your customer service.”
