Staging a car launch temporary structure in a skatepark

Technical production supplier, d&b solutions, approached Steeldeck Rentals to create a performance-ready stage hire solution for the launch of the new CUPRA Raval. The stage needed to support both a car launch reveal and a live music set, all within a skatepark.

Hosted at Projekts MCR Skatepark in Manchester, the event formed part of a high-energy, music-led brand activation bringing together a performance, automotive design and high energy. The space itself presented a series of constraints, with strict height restrictions that meant the car could not be craned into position – a key consideration for automotive event staging.

Engineering for access, weight and performance
Working closely with the event producers and structural requirements, Steeldeck designed and installed a bespoke temporary staging structure capable of safely supporting the weight of the vehicle alongside performers throughout the car launch event.

A key element of the build was a temporary load-in ramp system, allowing the car to be driven directly onto the stage. Once positioned, the ramp was carefully removed to maintain a clean performance space for the live event. Following the show, the ramp was then re-installed to allow for efficient and controlled load-out.

This approach gave a seamless execution to deliver creativity and practicality to maintain safety, speed of turnaround and visual impact throughout the event staging build.
