Innovative Staging for Clean Bandit’s Exclusive Brits Week Performance
Steeldeck’s expertise in custom staging and precision engineering brought STUDIO/’s creative vision to life at the London Palladium.
Appointed through a referral, STUDIO/, a leading creative studio specialising in memorable audience experiences, got in touch to ask Steeldeck to provide a unique and engaging stage design for Clean Bandit’s exclusive Brits Week 2025 performance at the London Palladium.
STUDIO/ envisioned a compound curve staging ramp spanning the full width of the stage, designed to complement a projection-mapped framework set. The stage layout allowed for Clean Bandit’s “Friends” to make seamless entrances and exits, enhancing the dynamic nature of the performance.
Precision Engineering and Custom Fabrication
The design required extensive 3D drawing and pre-production planning to accurately angle the ramp as it extended off stage and increased in height. With the ramp reaching over 4ft, Steeldeck’s scaffolding expertise were crucial in ensuring stability and safety. Custom Steeldeck tread units were integrated into the wings, providing performer access while adhering to the venue’s tight spatial constraints.
Steeldeck meticulously drafted the 3D design, detailing every custom leg length required. Each leg was custom cut to align with the scenic elements of the design. We also supplied triangular and uniquely shaped band risers positioned downstage to bring the band closer to the audience while accommodating the venue’s safety curtain.
Delivering Under Tight Deadlines
Brits Week 2025 hosts a series of intimate charity gigs supporting War Child, featured a lineup of award-winning artists including Cat Burns, Joy Crookes, Kasabian, and Clean Bandit. With an overnight build and an extremely tight de-rig window, Steeldeck crew ensured a smooth, safe, and efficient on-site execution.
The design implementation would have not been possible without Steeldeck’s advance planning, test building in our London yard, and flexibility to cut custom leg lengths, visualise the design in advance and collaboration with rigging and technical suppliers.
A Resounding Success
The final design complemented the live performance, elevating the audience experience. This project demonstrates Steeldeck’s commitment to precision, flexibility, and teamwork, proving once again why we are the trusted choice for innovative stage solutions.
“I just wanted to say a big thank you for helping us get the Palladium show on. It was a great success thanks to hard work from a lot of people, Steeldeck included! Everyone at the charity and the band are very happy with the way the show went, and everything looked great. ”
