At Steeldeck we’re looking forward to London Fashion Week next week, where over 250 designers will be showing their Fall/Winter 2022 collections. We’ve worked with some of the biggest names in fashion over the years, so we’re excited to see the industry getting back on its fabulous feet again.

After the past few years of COVID regulations, when designers turned to the digital realm to showcase their work – making films with acclaimed directors like Gus Van Sant (Gucci), producing virtual shows with model avatars (Mugler), and creating video games (Balenciaga) – we were delighted to see in-person shows return to London Fashion Week with great fanfare in September 2021. Highlights included perennial favourites Erdem and Roksanda, alongside up-and-comers Molly Goddard and Nensi Dojaka. Many designers, though, including Vivienne Westwood, continued to present their collections digitally.

This trend is set to continue with the upcoming LFW, which will run from Friday 18th to Tuesday 22nd February with a hybrid digital-physical schedule of catwalk shows, presentations, appointments, and events throughout London. Some designers, such as celebrity favourites S.S. Daley and Richard Quinn, will only do in-person catwalks, while other big names, like Emilia Wickstead and Simone Rocha, will make use of both formats. The provisional lineup is available here.

The merging of the physical and digital worlds of fashion over the course of the pandemic appears to be here to stay. This new “phygital” reality, which Vogue describes as “a fashion show experience that’s part IRL, part URL”, is an important part of how the industry is evolving, and at Steeldeck we look forward to supporting clients however we can, whether for a live show attended by hundreds or staging catwalk shoots for a virtual audience of thousands.
