Kings Theatre Glasgow (September 2009)
Phase 1 of the auditorium refurbishment of a listed Matcham theatre involves the installation of a ring beam by Steeldeck to support the front of the auditorium. The ring beam has been designed to fulfil two further purposes: either the support of our orchestra pit rails or the support of our deck to extend the auditoria over the pit towards the stage. The orchestra rails incorporated our WedgeLock system which is also used at the back of the auditorium for use when a "back of stalls" sound mixing position is required.
South Bank Temporary Swimming Pool (August 2009)
Further to our rental and sales work with Total Swimming, Steeldeck Rentals were commissioned to produce a substructure on uneven ground to a temporary above-ground pool weighing 70 tonnes and then swimmer and viewing access areas around the pool.
Dyne House, Highgate School (August 2009)
Steeldeck have supplied all the seating for this new build, 250 seat theatre. The 2 and 3 seat benches in four different colours come from our Mirage Tubular range.
Hyde Park (June 2009)
As part of the summer festivals in Hyde Park, Steeldeck Rentals were asked to provide all the staging (some 270 deck) for the VIP hospitality areas. Comprising of three tented structures on uneven ground, the brief was to keep the stages as low as possible for ease of access and therefore maintain a flat plane whilst following the contours of the land.
Hampton School (June 2009)
The manufacture and installation of the UK’s first curved retractable seating system using APack – an award winning product in 2008 at the ABTT and LDI trade shows in the UK and USA respectively. As you would expect, the system, unlike some retractables, has a reassuringly strong and stable feel underfoot. See the link below to view the finished product:
English National Opera at the Young Vic (April 2009)
With only one weeks notice Rentals took an outline design from the ENO for a temporary auditorium, which had to meet the stage at the front and the balcony at the rear, and made it reality at the same time as building another temporary auditorium at Battersea Arts Centre.
Battersea Arts Centre (March 2009)
A Rentals installation of a 470 seat temporary auditorium and stage for Kneehigh Theatre Company’s production of Don John in the Grand Hall at the Battersea Arts Centre. The auditorium was tailored to both the plan of the room, the arched ceiling and an existing curved balcony.
Godolphin and Latymer Girls School, Hammersmith (March 2009)
The conversion by Steeldeck of a deconsecrated church using over 80 Airstage, mostly standard but with some Giant. The installation allows for a multi configuration theatre for music, drama, dance etc.
Hull Truck (October 2008)
Primary supporting steelwork, done by others in this instance, was used by Steeldeck to support a large array of deck to give a flexible stage over the performance space. Additionally we manufactured and installed the orchestra pit rails using our WedgeLock system.
Sheffield Crucible (January 2008)
With the deadline of the Embassy World Championship in March this was a bit of a race against the clock to install a completely new stage and substructure with pinpoint accuracy. With a high loading capacity required the deck tops were increased to 30mm and we incorporated the easyOut system into the manufacture. Hydraulic lifts were also supplied to push the decks out from below enabling quick, easy and safe re-configuration.
