Environmental Policy

The re-usability and long life of the Steeldeck^® platform gives it strong green credentials but at Steeldeck^® we have taken that policy even further:

• Our manufacturing centre is based in London, the centre of our market, unlike competitors who manufacture overseas
• We buy British steel and, where possible, British products
• The ply that we use, whether for topping deck or general manufacture, comes from sustainable forests. We do not use rain forest products
• Our powder coating is done locally, cutting down on unnecessary transport
• Use of organic solvents has been eliminated
• We use local suppliers to minimise carbon footprint
• We order materials in bulk, avoiding multiple deliveries
• Wherever possible construction materials are recycled (e.g. cutting down damaged tops for use on smaller decks, and cutting down special legs to standard stock sizes)
• Recycling extends to all aspects of the business: paper, print cartridges and the like

At Steeldeck^® we are currently working towards ISO 9001 status and are committed to a programme of extending our ISO accreditation to include ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System) and ISO 18001 (Health and Safety Management Systems).
